I cannot express how much I loved, loved, loved this book. I cannot believe this was written by someone who never wrote before. This was such an uplifting, powerful piece authored by a southern woman who doesn't hold back. It's from the point of view of three different characters surviving the ways of Jackson, MS in the early sixties. One white woman, two black women (both maids). They are funny, sad, strong, and all growing. And there isn't any one of the narrators who you won't be pulling for and loving. You feel like a friend is talking to you, that's how well written this was.
I couldn't put it down. I don't want to give a thing away, so I'll say no more. Kudos to Kathryn Stockett.
