This book isn't for the squeamish. So much fun to read though. Sometimes, I think really good authors have an abundance of ideas but they don't want or can't make the story longer than it needs to me. That's why I tend to enjoy the short story books because you know the author isn't wasting your time with facts or descriptions that ae unnecessary just to fill up pages for their publisher.
The stories in this book were either disturbing, disgusting or just hilarious. I don't want to go into too much detail or it'll ruin it. Example: The first one, which was about 40 pages long, was seriously like a nightmare---but it was awesome and so much fun to read. My one and only complaint is that Irvine Welsh has his American characters (born and raised here) saying things American's would never say, but what a Scottish person would. When American authors or movie screenwriters do that---they get criticized. So I noticed it...it doesn't take away from these gut wretching stories. Also, beware if you decide to read this..the last and longest short story (which was excellent) is written from the point of view from a Scotland son of Fife...so he writes like he would talk....and it may take you a while to get used to the way he puts his situations. It did for me at least.
Otherwise, this was good stuff.
